FBR & PRA SALES TAX REGISTRATION

Sales Tax Registration in Pakistan

If you manufacture, import, export, distribute or run a Tier-1 retail outlet, the Sales Tax Act 1990 requires you to register for sales tax and get an STRN. If you sell services in Punjab, the Punjab Revenue Authority expects the same. We file your application on IRIS, arrange biometric verification, answer any FBR queries and set up your monthly returns, so you stay on the Active Taxpayer List from the first month.

OUR SERVICE

What's Included in Our Sales Tax Service

Registration is only the first step. We take you from the application to your first filed return, so nothing is left half-done.

Eligibility & Registration Type

We confirm whether you must register with FBR, your provincial revenue authority (PRA, SRB, KPRA or BRA), or both, and whether you register as a manufacturer or non-manufacturer.

IRIS Form 14(1) Filing

We complete the sales tax registration form on IRIS with business, bank, branch and utility details, and upload GPS-tagged photos of your premises (and machinery, for manufacturers).

Biometric Verification

Biometric verification at a NADRA e-Sahulat centre must be completed within 30 days of registration. We tell you exactly what to bring and track the status until it clears.

FBR Queries & Verification

If the department asks for a clarification or a corrected document, we respond on your behalf within the deadline so your registration is not rejected or suspended.

PRA Registration for Services

Selling services in Punjab? We register you with the Punjab Revenue Authority as well, so your goods and services are both covered without overlap.

Monthly Returns from Day One

Once your STRN is active, we file your monthly sales tax returns with sales and purchase annexures, so you stay on the Sales Tax Active Taxpayer List.

Who Needs Sales Tax Registration?

Manufacturers

Every manufacturer that does not qualify as a cottage industry must register before making taxable supplies.

Importers

Sales tax is charged at the import stage. Registration lets you claim that input tax and supply registered buyers.

Exporters

Exporters need an STRN to claim refunds of input tax paid on goods used in zero-rated export supplies.

Wholesalers & Distributors

Registered buyers prefer registered suppliers, and supplies to unregistered persons attract further tax.

Tier-1 Retailers & Service Providers

Tier-1 retailers must register and integrate their point of sale with FBR. Service businesses register with their provincial revenue authority.

How We Register You for Sales Tax

Step 1: Document Collection

You share your CNIC, NTN, a bank account maintenance certificate in the business name, a utility bill and premises details. Companies and AOPs add director or partner CNICs.

Step 2: IRIS Application

We prepare Form 14(1) on IRIS, select the correct registration type and upload GPS-tagged photographs and meter details.

Step 3: Biometric & Verification

You complete biometric verification at NADRA e-Sahulat. We follow up on any FBR query or field verification until it clears.

Step 4: STRN & First Return

Your registration becomes active and you appear on the Active Taxpayer List. We file your first monthly return by the 18th.

Frequently Asked Questions

STRN is your Sales Tax Registration Number. On IRIS, sales tax registration is linked to your existing NTN record, but having an NTN does not make you sales tax registered by itself. You must apply separately through Form 14(1).

Under section 14 of the Sales Tax Act 1990: manufacturers (other than cottage industry), importers, exporters claiming refunds, wholesalers, distributors and dealers, and Tier-1 retailers. Businesses providing services register with their provincial revenue authority, such as the PRA in Punjab.

CNIC (plus director or partner CNICs for companies and AOPs), NTN, a bank account maintenance certificate in the business name, electricity or gas consumer numbers with meter photos, and GPS-tagged photos of the premises. Manufacturers also provide machinery details and photos.

A complete online application is usually processed within a few working days. Biometric verification must then be completed within 30 days; if it is not, the registration is removed from the Active Taxpayer List.

Tax for each month is paid by the 15th and the return is e-filed by the 18th of the following month. A return is required even for a month with no sales.

It depends on your business type and whether provincial registration is also needed. Send us your details and we will give you a fixed quote before any work starts.
