Frequently Asked Questions

For Tax Year 2026 (1 July 2025 – 30 June 2026): individuals, salaried persons, and AOPs must file by 30 September 2026. Companies must file by 31 December 2026 (companies with a special tax year may have a different date). We recommend filing early to avoid last-minute IRIS portal congestion and to secure your ATL status promptly.

Under the Income Tax Ordinance 2001, a penalty of Rs. 40,000 or 0.1% of the tax payable per month applies, whichever is higher. You also lose your Active Taxpayer List (ATL) status, meaning higher withholding tax rates on banking, property, and vehicle transactions.

Yes. Resident Pakistanis (including overseas Pakistanis who qualify as resident under FBR rules) with foreign income or assets must file both a foreign income and assets statement and a local income tax return. Non-resident Pakistanis with Pakistan-source income (e.g., rental income or business income in Pakistan) are also required to file.

You’ll typically need: your CNIC copy, NTN (if already registered), salary certificate or business income details, bank account statements, details of any property, vehicles, or investments, and prior year’s tax return (if applicable). For a complete list, download our free Tax Year 2026 document checklist above.

Most straightforward individual and salaried tax returns are completed within 24-48 hours of receiving your complete documents. Business and company returns may take slightly longer depending on the complexity of accounts and reconciliations required.

The Active Taxpayer List (ATL) is FBR’s official list of taxpayers who filed their return on time. Being on the ATL means significantly lower withholding tax rates on banking transactions, property transfers, vehicle registration, and other transactions — while non-filers face substantially higher rates on the same transactions.

Our fees depend on the complexity of your return — salaried individuals, business owners, and companies each have different requirements. Contact us for a free, no-obligation quote based on your specific situation.
